| Software Version Documented | v10.0 |
Overview
A way to quickly configure specific fields to be required and/or enabled when creating a new item has been added to the software. There will now be 3 ways to create a new item.
-
Non-Stock Build (NSB) flag on the Quote/Order - Least amount of requirements.
-
Inventory Creation Wizard - most involved way to create new items on the fly.
-
Quick Item Build - configurable amount of requirements is the newest way.
Previously, the way to create a new item on the fly was to either use NSB on the line with limited requirements of Part Number, Description, MFG which would follow the Costing/Pricing File for that MFG or use the Item Creation Wizard which would provide the full Item Entry screen(s).
This new Quick Item Build feature will allow the user to have a middle ground where they can define which fields are required to create a new item in a Quote/Order and/or RFQ/PO form.
A user with admin rights may choose what fields are enabled and/or required when creating a new item using the Quick Item Build by accessing the administrator menu and clicking on the Configure Quick Item Build tab.
The Part Number, MFG Code, UPC Symbol, and Default Vendor will always be enabled and required but other fields can be checked or unchecked to be enabled (show) or required (can’t finish without entering/selecting).
This screen can be accessed while on a Quote/Order or RFQ/PO by right clicking on a line in the grid and Quick Item Build. The screen will appear with the fields depending on how it is configured. New items will be added to the Item Manager and will act just like the Item Creation Wizard or NSB checkmark and create the new item even if the Order is canceled.

On an RFQ and on a PO the same behavior happens

And the enabled fields are arranged as follows

-
The following fields have a free form text field in their data source (in the item manager) but should not be free form text in the quick item build. They should only be a combobox listing existing values.
